24th FIPS-Mouche European Fly Fishing Championship
Vyšší Brod, Czech Republic, June 6th – June 11th 2018
RULE MODIFICATIONS

FIPS-Mouche has appointed the Czech Anglers Association, Czech Republic, to be the host country for the 24th FIPS-Mouche European Fly Fishing Championship to be held in Vyšší Brod, Czech Republic. These Rule Modifications apply to the latest published FIPS-Mouche Competition Rules – CR2017

Article 2: General Information

2.2. Add: Three sessions will be held in rivers, bank fishing, wading allowed. Two sessions will be held on a lake, one of them as bank fishing and the other as anchored boat fishing.

Article 9: Bank Fishing Competitions

9.3. Add: The beats on the river will be an average of 200 meters, with no buffer zones, marked on both river banks. The beats on lake will be 20 meters long, boundaries marked with strips, no buffer zones as well.

9.7 Add: Wading is only allowed on the river sectors  and chest waders may be worn.

9.9 New: There will be 2 rotations while river fishing in sectors I and II (none in sector III) and 2 rotations on both lake sectors IV and V while competition sessions.

Rotation matrix will published during captain meeting. In the Sector I and II will be rotation between neighbouring beats. For example Competitor 1 fishes beat 1 for 90 min, next has 20 min for rotation and next fishes beat 2 for 90 min. Competitor 2 starts at beat 2 and after 90 min and rotation will fish beat 1. In case of odd number of teams, the system of rotation will be clarified during the captain meeting.

Article 10: Boat fishing

10.9 Change. The fishing will be done from anchored boats (no drogues used), with 2 rotations during each the competition session.
Competitors may wear their own life vest

Article 11: Duration of events, scoring at practice sessions

11.3. Add: The hours for fishing will be in the program of the championship will be as following:

Sector I (Vltava 28 river)          from 07:00 to 10:30 and from 17:00 to 20:30

Sector II (Vltava 29 river)         from 08:30 to 12:00 and from 15:00 to 18:30

Sector III (Vltava 28 river)        from 07:00 to 10:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00

Sector IV and V (Kvetonov lake)        from 08:30 to 12:20 and from 15:00 to 18:40

11.4. Add: All official practice will be catch and release, the schedule and rotation of practice beats will be in the program of championship. All official and unofficial practice will be fished with barbless hooks.

Article 20:Controlers
20.5. Add: The controller carries out his work from the bank or from an island in riverine sessions. Upon the request of the competitor the controller enters the island. Controller enters island also in case of losing view of competitor

This rule is mainly aimed on limitation of the stress of fish caught, as replacement of fish between two channels of river significantly increases handling time and it is also stressful for trout, which is territorial fish and can not find his „home pool“ after releasing in another channel of river.

20.5 Add New: Controllers may carry the material on demand of his competitor, to have it at all times within a safe distance. The responsibility for the material stays with the competitor.

Article 25: Eligible fish
Add: Eligible fish will be all fish species caught. The size limit for all fish is 200 mm, measuring will be done from the tip of the nose to the extremities of the tail, squeezed together.

Article 30: Landing nets:
29.3. Add new: During lake fishing, nets can be up to a length of 250 cm .

Article 31: Prohibitions

31.1. a) Change: The fishing of competition sectors by competitors or their agents from May 7th on (including) till the official start of the event on lake Kvetonov (dues to annual local competition held 1st week in May).
